- <p> DIED. Jerome ("Doc") Pomus, 65, legendary rock-'n'-roll
- lyricist; of lung cancer; in New York City. A native of
- Brooklyn, Pomus teamed with composer Mort Shuman to pen his
- first major hit, A Teenager in Love, in 1959. The two also
- wrote such classics as Save the Last Dance for Me and This
- Magic Moment for the Drifters. Their magic continued with Elvis
- Presley's Little Sister and Surrender.
